The Val d’Orcia is one of those fantastic places to visit during any season. This rural area of Tuscany, near Siena, offers unparalleled scenery and immense emotions.
The landscape enchants for bright and vivid colors, together with vast unique views extending to infinity!

Stopping to take pictures here is a great pleasure; time gets slow, and you just need to enjoy the superb spectacle that unfolds before your eyes.

In this particular natural scenery you can enjoy one of the many fabulous spas in the area, among the best thermal springs throughout Italy.

I particularly recommend the thermal baths in Bagno Vignoni, timeless village about 10 km away from the most famous hill town of Pienza. As soon as you get to the core of the village, you immediately get struck by the huge pool dating from the Renaissance, that is also the town’s main square. Hot thermal waters are flowing out from the pool from over 2000 years!

Piazza delle Sorgenti’s lovely stone houses and palaces are reflected in the water; while the green Tuscan hills all around, make this medieval village one of the most beautiful and best preserved of Italy. This is the ideal place for a relaxing stay!

Locanda del Loggiato, a special place

On a tiny square next to Piazza delle Sorgenti is the Locanda del Loggiato, an incredibly charming and romantic place to stay. Sabrina and Barbara, the two amiable hosts of the Locanda, will give you a warm welcome! Breakfast is delicious; homemade cakes and local products like Tuscan bread, honey, yogurt, jams, and other delicacies. Just few steps away are the thermal pools where you can relax!

Bagno Vignoni thermal baths and waters possess extraordinary therapeutic properties that you can enjoy in one of the many spas in town.

  • Hi Elena
Very nice post about Bagno Vignoli. I always wanted to go there! Is it possible to reach by bus, private tour or any form of public transport? We don’t drive, unfortunately.
I am going to Florence for the 3rd time this Easter and am looking for new day trips (I have already done – Sienna, Pisa, Lucca, Montecatini). I wanted to go to Tarot Garden in Capalbio, but I suspect we also need a car to drive there? Any fun suggestions for two early thirties friends who love art, good food and wine, but don’t drive in Italy?
    Thanks

      Hi Erica!
Glad to give some help for your next holiday in Tuscany 🙂

Getting to Bagno Vignoni without a car is not so simple or quick, but it’s possible! You have to take a train from Florence to Siena, and once in Siena, take a bus to Bagno Vignoni, some buses are direct, check here from bus timetables from Siena. To reach Capalbio from Florence without a car is not recommended.

In this blog article I give tips and practical info on the best day trips to make starting from Florence’s center using only public transportation, take a look! While here, I make a list of some alternative day trips from Florence; some of them can be reached using public transportation.

This second time I would suggest you visit Fiesole, San Gimignano, and the Chianti wine area, all conveniently reached also without a car.

A further possibility you may consider is an escorted tour, let me know in case you’re interested in some suggestions,

Do not hesitate to contact me again,
      Enjoy planning your Easter holidays!
