Hi Elena
your blog is just excellent, and after reading we are planning a trip to Tuscany.
will be in Florence for couple of days and then in Siena.
planning to stay in Siena for 3 nights, but the thing is we don’t drive.
it would be very kind of you to suggest towns for day trips from Siena which is easy access by train?
thanks a great lot

Hi Suvit,
thanks a lot for your nice message, I’m happy you are planning your Tuscan trip
You can reach Siena from Florence by a direct bus that will take you right in the town’s center. Once in Siena, note that, the train station is located not in the city center but down Siena.
Many beautiful places can be visited from Siena using public transportation. The smaller hill towns are better reached by bus, as in the case of Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Montepulciano, and others also in Chianti you can see on this map.
Here are instead the bus schedules from Siena. These are the best day trips I recommend when using Siena as a base, most can be reached by public transports, take a look.
Do not hesitate to contact me again,
Happy planning,
elena
