What are the must see places in Italy?

Hi Elena,
My husband and I are planning a trip with our family to Italy in 2020. We plan to renew our vows around our 25th wedding anniversary. Our anniversary is in August however and things I’ve been reading make me think that may not be the best time to go. My questions are when would be the best time to travel to Italy to enjoy all it has to offer and what are some must see places to make this a trip of a lifetime? As of today we’ve never traveled outside of the US and this may be the only time we get to visit Italy so I want to make it the best it can be. I have wanted to go to Verona since reading Romeo and Juliet my freshman year of high school so that’s a definite must. I am also enamored by the thought of visiting Tuscany. Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated. This trip has been a dream for what feels like ages and although it’s still 5 years off I want to start planning as soon as possible so I can make it all happen.
Thanks,
Jessica

Dear Jessica,
many thanks for getting on the forum! and sorry for the delay.
Probably the best time to travel to Italy and really enjoy it is in the months of May and June, nature is in bloom and temperatures are very pleasing, warm but not hot as in August, though weather tends to change fro year to year.
Some of Italy’s must see places that will surely make yours a trip of a lifetime are Venice, Florence, Siena, the Tuscan countryside, Rome, and the Amalfi Coast. I suggest some of the best Italian sights in this itinerary through Italy, take a look to get an idea
Verona is definitely one of the most beautiful cities of our country, so do visit it!
As for Tuscany, that really has so much to offer, start by having a look at how to plan the perfect trip to Tuscany and the main Tuscan attractions
And this is my selection of the most fascinating villages across Tuscany.
