Hello! I’m glad to help with your upcoming trip to Tuscany
In case you’d like to cover some of the highlights of Tuscany, I suggest you stay for less days in Montecatini Terme and then move to a more central location in Tuscany, maybe Florence or the Chianti wine region. That way, you will have the possibility to explore major Tuscan destinations without having to travel too long with your car from Montecatini. However, in case you’re staying in Montecatini to enjoy its fantastic thermal baths, you may consider another base for just 2 days.
This being said, here is the travel itinerary I suggest:
1. Montecatini 3 nights: while there you could visit Lucca, Pisa, and the near charming town of Pistoia.
2. Firenze 1 night
You can spend one night in the wonderful Florence, to have time to explore its many amazing sights while enjoying it also at night, when the buildings are lit up making the city even more beautiful.
3. Once you’re done with Florence, heard south to reach the Chianti area, whose location between Florence and Siena makes it a strategic base to visit some of the most beautiful places in Tuscany: San Gimignano and its famous towers, the walled hamlet of Monteriggioni, the fabulous medieval Siena, and the lovely hills towns of Montalcino, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, and Montepulciano.
If you have any more questions, just get back to me,
Enjoy your vacation,
Elena from Florence
