Trip to Tuscany from Rome and then to Venice from Tuscany

We will be going to Tuscany (for 3 days) from Rome; should we reach Florence first and then rent a car from there? Our next stop after Tuscany is Venice.

Hi,
Your destinations in Italy are amazing
You may reach Florence by a fast train from Rome and rent a car from there, or if you love driving and taking scenic routes you may even consider renting your car directly in Rome and start exploring Tuscany from its southern part.
The drive from Rome to Florence is actually very scenic and offers quite many gems to admire along the way: Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, the Val d’Orcia…
Feel free to post for any other suggestions,
elena from a sunny Tuscany!
