Planning a trip to Tuscany and Italy

Hello, my boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Italy this year. We want to visit Venice for one full day, Tuscany for 3-4 days, and then Cinque Terre for the remaining. In Tuscany, we want to visit Florence, Siena (will there be time for Monteriggioni?), Chianti, San Gimignano and Val d’Orcia. Where should be base ourselves in Tuscany, and where should we rent our car?

Day 1: Venice
Day 2: Venice/Tuscany
Day 3: Tuscany
Day 4: Tuscany
Day 5: Tuscany
Day 6: Cinque Terre+

Thank you so much for your help!! Your site is absolutely amazing

Hello,
I’m happy to help you plan your trip to Italy and happy you find my blog amazing! thank you!
The destinations of your Italian vacation are all wonderful, especially Venice.
After Venice, I imagine you’re taking a fast train that will take you to Florence. The train station of Florence is in the town’s center so you might spend most of the day visiting this wonderful city from the Renaissance before picking your car up and leave the city for the Tuscan countryside. In case you’re tired you may even spend the night in Florence and then take your car on the following morning. This way you can also have a great dinner here and enjoy Florence at night.
I would probably make Chianti your base, considering its central location in Tuscany, that is strategic to visit the great sights you’re mentioning.
You can definitely visit Monteriggioni as it’s really a very small village near Siena. There are quite lots of day trips you can take from Chianti, here is a list of the best ones.
Feel free to contact me again for any other question,
