Itinerary for Tuscany 6 days with car or train from Loro Ciuffenna?

We will be staying at the La Ferreira timeshare in Loro Ciuffenna April 4-11, 2015 and we will be renting a car.  There are four of us seniors (around 70) and this is our first time in this area and driving in Europe.  We loved your website and want to visit the areas you recommended:  Florence (we can drive to the station and take a train), the Val d’Orcia (Pienza, Mpntalcino, Bagno Vignoni), Montepulciano, San Gimignano, and possibly Arezzo and Chianti.  Is driving difficult to these areas?  Will there be tolls to these locations and what are the prices?  Should we even consider driving?
We are interested in special experiences unique to Tuscany, such as a market to table shopping/cooking experience (lunch only as we have halfboard at our timeshare).  We look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you, Cheryl Kong and Arlene Ting

Dear Cheryl and Arlene,
Thanks for getting in touch! I’m happy you like my site and it’s a pleasure to give some advice on Tuscany.
Traveling by car is actually the best way to experience Tuscany and all its beauty! Driving these areas is not difficult, and apart from highways you will have the pleasure to drive along curvy and scenic roads amid the hills, especially in Chianti and in Val d’Orcia. Only in case you run on the Autostrada A1 you will have to pay tolls, this is the case of Montepulciano, the cost is around 2 euro and half. For info on getting around Tuscany take a look at this post.
All the lovely towns I recommend and that you intend to visit, are perfect to enjoy shopping and cooking experiences.
Happy planning!
Do not hesitate to contact me again for any other help needed,
Have a great Sunday,
Elena from Florence
