Celebration 70th birthday in Tuscany

Dear Elena, my name is Saroj and I live in The Netherlands. My dad will turn 70 on the 29th of October and we want to surprise him with a trip to Tuscany. We all love to travel so going away makes sense to celebrate his birthday. We are with six adults (my parents, my sister and her husband and my husband and myself) and two children (my niece of 5 years old and my niece of 2 years old). Before we plan a trip to Tuscany I was wondering if you could help us out with planning the perfect celebration trip and if you could let me know what we should take into account concerning weather, duration, children etc.We are thinking of 26th of October until 31st of October. This the longest time we have. It could also be even 27th until the 30th. I am aware that is a very short time. Is Florence alone maybe the best to do? Also is the weather ok around that time of the year? Hopefully not only rain? I am excited to hear from you and to get some advice. Thank you in advance.Kind regards, Saroj

Dear Saroj, thanks so much for posting your question I’m happy to help! Tuscany is certainly a great choice to celebrate your dad’s birthday
You’re right saying you’ve not a lot of time, but it is still enough to get the best of the region. Florence maybe amongst the best to do, but the first thing you need to decide is where to base in Tuscany…in case you’re renting a car, I’d suggest staying in the countryside not far from Florence, like in the famous and scenic Chianti region. In case you’re not moving with a car, basing in Florence is the best option. If you base in Florence, in addition to visiting the city itself, that really offers a lot, and having a unique location to celebrate your dad’s birthday, you can still conveniently visit fantastic Tuscan sights via train/bus…above all Siena and San Gimignano, here is a list of the best day trips from Florence. The weather is generally ok around that time of the year with nice temperatures and not only rain…during last years actually very little rain. Staying in Florence may also offer the advantage to explore Tuscany by yourselves or with some very good organized tours.
Let me know your thoughts so I can send you further tips
