8 days to Tuscany for landscape photography and stress free vacations

Hi Elena,

following your recommendation to post my question here in your relevant blog section.

I will travel to Tuscany from 3 to 11 October 2015. Being a hobbyist photographer I was looking for an area close to the best landscapes views in Tuscany. After some research to various sites and forums I decided that Val d’Orcia is the most appropriate place. What’s your opinion? I will rent a car in Rome so I will drive all the way up to Tuscany. This is meant to be a “lone rider” trip so every day will be a road trip into new places around Tuscany and especially in Val d’Orcia. I would be really grateful if you suggest me a draft schedule for each day.

Having a specific budget for this trip I found a (hopefully) nice place in booking.com located just outside of Castiglione d’Orcia which is called Agriturismo Le Case. However, if you have a better suggestion please to let me know it. I haven’t paid for my reservation and I can cancel it even 1 day before my arrival.

Thanks in advance for your time and help

Nikolas

Hi Nikolas,
Really many thanks for posting here!

You’re so right! The wonderful Natural Park of the Val d’Orcia is definitely the best place to be for best landscapes and views, I would have suggested it to you as a first choice.
A lovely place to stay amid a scenic countryside is Agriturismo il Rigo. This is a great spot to take pictures as it faces the beautiful Pienza and all those undulating hills. Take a look and let me know your opinion. Also have a look at the photos of their facebook page.

As you’re driving all the way up to Tuscany from Rome, I suggest this road trip running from Rome up to Florence in Tuscany.
Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio are great stops to make on your way, and in addition, I would also go west passing from the Bolsena Lake to reach the magical and picturesque area of the città del tufo, Pitigliano, Sorano, and Sovana. This corner of Tuscany is among the less visited yet the most amazing and beautiful places of Italy. The place is great for taking photos!

Then continue north to reach Val d’Orcia,

Do not hesitate to contact me again for any further info,

Have a nice day,
elena
