Hello Elena
Next June, myself, my husband and my 11 and 14 year old boys will be travelling to Italy. We are planning to have seven days in Tuscany. My husband and I have visited before and fell in love with the region. We stayed in a farmhouse outside of Cortona then. This time though, we are not sure where to stay. I love the countryside but am worried it won’t be so convenient with the boys. Can you recommend accommodation (2-3 bedrooms) to suit families, perhaps in a village, or within walking distance to one. We want somewhere where we can immerse in the village life, but also have a good range of activities/restaurants. We have no desire to stay in Florence or the larger towns. Thanks for your help.

Hello Michelle,
thanks a lot for contacting me.
I’m happy you love this beautiful region 🙂
Where to stay? You’re right to avoid larger and chaotic towns like Florence.
You say a place where to experience the village life, but also have a good range of activities/restaurants. I think to Siena, that though one of the most important art towns in Tuscany, still has all the charm of a smaller medieval village and is characterized by many activities. The city center is car-free. This can be a great option also for the boys. I personally love Siena that is a great spot for making day trips to some of the best destinations and villages in Tuscany.
In Siena’s center you can take a look at these charming apartments.
Another charming smaller village that you might consider is San Gimignano, though it offers less activities than Siena.
Go through the links and let me know what you think. I’m glad to give additional suggestions.
Have a nice day,
elena from Florence
