The Tiramisu is a typical and exquisite dessert of Italian origin, popular throughout Italy! It’s taste is incredibly savory, an authentic delicacy! We can consider it a variant of the trifle cake.

The word Tiramisù would sound approximately as “pull me up” in English, as it is quite a caloric dessert with coffee, that soon gives you a lot of energy and strength:-)

If you have guests for dinner, do serve them the Tiramisù, they’ll be enthusiastic!

Making your Tiramisù at home is easy and quick! Here is the original recipe of the Italian Tiramisù, it serves about 8:

Ingredients needed for the Tiramisù Cake

  • 6 eggs

  • 120 gr of sugar

  • 500 gr of mascarpone cheese

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 400 gr of Savoiardi biscuits – ladyfingers

  • 3 small cups of coffee

  • 1 spoon of rum

  • cocoa powder

Preparation: How to make the Tiramisù dessert

  1. Put the egg yolks in a large bowl with half the sugar and mix with a whisk until all has become a cream.

  2. Add the mascarpone to the cream and mix all the ingredients with a palette knife.

  3. Add the remaining sugar to the pastry and mix well.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites with the pinch of salt.

  5. Add the egg whites to the pastry little by little, mixing it from the bottom upwards.

  6. Dip the Savoiardi biscuits in the coffee with the rum.

  7. Take a rectangular pan, put some of the creamy mixture on the bottom, cover with a layer of dipped savoiardi and proceed alternating cream and biscuits, until the last layer of cream.

  8. Cover the last layer of cream with the cocoa powder.

  9. Put the Tiramisù in the fridge for 1 or 2 hours.

This extraordinary Italian dessert can be served all year long, especially on special occasions, and can be the right dessert for your New Year’s Eve! 🙂

My advice to have a great Tiramisu

  • You can avoid the rum and use just the coffee, the result will be great as well!

  • It’s very important that you whip the egg whites very well until they have reached a volume.

  • Add the egg whites very slowly to the mixture

  • Use only very fresh eggs and of the greatest quality!

  • The most delicious variations of the Tiramisu recipe are the Tiramisu with chocolate, or with berries, strawberry, or pineapple! 🙂
